Anne Richardson

Registered Nutritional Therapy Practitioner

Master Practitioner in Eating Disorders and Obesity

MA, FdSc, DipION, member of BANT and CNHC

I grew up in France where I embarked on a life-long love of cooking and food. However, I struggled with my weight as a teenager, I was “the fat friend of the pretty one” and consequently fell prey to an eating disorder. Recovering some time later sparked up my interest in food and how it can affect our body and soul. I eventually¬†decided to quit my job in publishing and re-train for four years at the renowned Institute for Optimum Nutrition in London to become a registered nutritional therapist practitioner.

I also trained at the National Centre for Eating Disorders in London where I qualified as Master Practitioner in Eating Disorders and Obesity, a diploma approved by the British Psychological Society.

I am a firm believer that diet and lifestyle are key to optimum health but also that you don’t have to live off sawdust to be healthy. I will therefore do my upmost to combine my knowledge of nutrition with my love of cooking to help you achieve your goals without you staring down an empty plate.

My main areas of interest are weight management and eating disorders. My clients typically have lost touch with “normal eating” and either restrict their food all the time, restrict and binge, just binge, or are life-long yoyo dieters etc. They all have in common a distorted relationship with food and a deep hatred of their bodies.

I don’t teach people how to diet but how to eat again. Together we will learn about what your body needs to function well and I will teach you to make peace with food and your body. As you’ll quickly realise, my work isn’t based on fads gleaned from the internet but that it’s based on evidence and research. I don’t have the perfect “Anne diet” to sell you, what’s right for me might not be for you or your neighbour but what I know for sure is that, if you want to be well, you need some basic nutritional pillars.

I am a fully registered member of the British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy (BANT), the professional body for registered nutritional therapy practitioners. I am also registered with the Complementary & Natural Health Council (CNHC), which was set up with government support to protect the public by providing a UK voluntary register of complementary therapists.

In order to remain informed and up to date, I attend regular continuing professional development events such as seminars, conferences and training programmes.

I’m also a Body Image Movement (BIM) ambassador in that I support Taryn Brumfitt’s campaign to help women feel better about themselves and realise that EVERYbody is beautiful. I hosted the screening of her world acclaimed documentary Embrace in the past and would urge you to watch it if you get the chance.
